If Dhoni has anything to express about his retirement, he should do it once the Test series gets over in Australia, says former skipper Kapil Dev.
NEW DELHI: The test series in Australia that began amid much hope has turned out to be a disaster. And to top it all, captain MS Dhoni has said he may have to retire from test cricket if he is to play in the 2015 World Cup.
While cricket lovers across the country are lashing out at Indian players for their dismal performance and Dhoni's comments, former Indian captain Kapil Dev believes it's time to stop attacking the team.

"No doubt the team has played badly, but we need to let them be and hope they get better. We can always dissect things and see what needs to be done later, and not right now when the series is on."
Dhoni's statement, he agrees, was untimely and shocking. "Even though my friend Sourav Ganguly feels he could have been joking, I don't think there can be a joke of this kind in the middle of a series. I would just like to tell Dhoni that if he has anything on his mind, he should express it later. Never raise something in the middle of the series. The team and the captain just need to focus on their game and keep trying harder. That's the only way," said Kapil, recounting the time when his team and he went through a huge low post their 1983 World Cup victory.
"We were thrashed. Yes, in those days the media wasn't as strong, but we did get a lot of flak. The only way for us was to concentrate totally on our game and that's exactly what we did."
